The German periodical BILD reports that there was an agreement between Moscow, Berlin, and Washington on the exchange of prisoners. It is noteworthy that, according to the periodical, Putin wanted to return Vadim Krasikov, releasing Alexei Navalny instead.
Krasikov was accused in 2019. In the murder of Zelimkhan Khangoshvili, a Chechen born in Georgia, one of the opponents of the Russian regime in Germany.
The newspaper also notes that Putin publicly hinted at this decision in an interview with Tucker Carlson.
