The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan responded to the reprimand addressed to them by the Head of EU Diplomacy, Josep Borrell.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, in particular, responded, "We condemn and reject the groundless accusations directed at Azerbaijan by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell during a joint press conference with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
We consider Josep Borell's justification of the Armenian side as disregarding Armenia's military provocation. Unfortunately, after 5 months of stability, the EU ignores the wounding of an Azerbaijani soldier by sniper fire without any provoking factors. The steps taken by Azerbaijan in response to the provocation were quite adequate and had a local character. These measures also prevented Armenian attempts to expand the military escalation."
