Japan remains committed to the policy of signing a peace treaty with Russia and finds the absence of such a document regrettable 78 years after the end of World War II.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced this during the "National Rally for the Return of the Northern Territories," called the southern part of the Russian Kuril Islands.
