"Turkey is NATO's key ally and partner in the region." Patel

Vendant Patel, the spokesperson for the US State Department, referred to the ratification of Sweden's NATO membership application by the Turkish Parliament and spoke about US-Turkey and US-NATO relations.

"Turkey is a crucial NATO ally. We believe that Turkey also considers the NATO alliance necessary, and they have been excellent security partners in the region, not only within the coalition but also outside its borders. We look forward to continuing cooperation and close relations with our Turkish partners. As you know, the Secretary of State regularly talks with Foreign Minister Fidan and has had the opportunity to meet with President Erdogan several times.
We look forward to continuing cooperation with Turkey in several key areas. The Turkish Parliament has long awaited this step, and we are waiting for the continuation of this process. We expect President Erdogan to take all the steps needed to officially complete this process.
We are looking forward to receiving Turkey's certificate in Washington," he emphasized.
