Yemen's Houthis announced that they fired ballistic missiles at several US warships in the Gulf of Aden and Bab El Mandeb Strait. The warships were protecting two American merchant ships.
The Houthi military spokesman stated that, as a result of the collision, the US warship received a direct hit and forced two merchant ships to retreat.
