State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that Azerbaijan and Armenia have made significant progress in negotiations over the past year.
"We welcome the work to achieve peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of both countries. We hope they will sign a lasting peace agreement recognizing each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity; the sooner, the better.
The parties have made significant progress over the past year, and we urge them to maintain this momentum, build on the results of past negotiations, and reach an agreement."
