According to POLÍTICO, four names are being considered, all women. The current president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, can keep her position; the president of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola from Malta, remains in her position. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen became President of the European Council (replacing Charles Michel). Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas took over as EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (replacing Josep Borrell).
