US presidential internal party elections will start in Iowa

BBC reports to Radar Armenia that the US state of Iowa has again appeared at the center of American politics. Here today, on Monday, the intra-party elections for presidential candidates begin.

This year, Democrats have changed the schedule slightly. Still, Republicans have stuck to a tradition that has been going on for half a century, with the candidate's primary election being held on January 15 in Iowa.

Candidate elections for Republicans and Democrats in Iowa are going differently. In 2020, the Democrats changed the procedure. The candidate will be selected by mail, and then the results will be announced.

Republicans will, as before, gather at each polling station (usually at a school, community center, or similar location) on Monday evening. Voters with the right to vote will first consider the candidates and then write the name of their favorite on a piece of paper and hand it to the chairman of the meeting. He will count the votes and transfer them to the state party office, which will count and publish the results.

40 delegates from Iowa will go to the Republican National Convention, where the party's presidential candidate will be chosen.
