Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has officially abdicated and handed over the crown to her son, Crown Prince Frederick X.
This is the first time in 900 years that the Danish monarch has abdicated. Margaret II ruled Denmark for 52 years. After the death of Elizabeth II, the 83-year-old queen of Denmark is the longest-serving monarch in Europe.
