The French Prime Minister's husband was appointed Foreign Minister

On Thursday evening, French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed the members of the government formed by newly appointed Prime Minister Gabriel Attal. The Secretary General of Macron's office, Alexis Kohler, has officially announced the new members of the French government.

Several leading ministers from the previous government, led by the outgoing Elizabeth Bourne, have retained their posts. They are Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanet, Defense Minister Sébastien Lecorne and Justice Minister Eric Dupont-Moretti.

Stephane Sejourne, the secretary general of the presidential "Revival" party and the husband of current Prime Minister Attal, who replaced Catherine Colonna, was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. Rashida Dutt, former Minister of Justice under Nicolas Sarkozy, was appointed Minister of Culture to replace Rima Abdul-Malak.
