The production and sale of dog meat have been banned in South Korea

Yonhap reports that the parliament of North Korea has approved the law on the ban on the breeding of meat dogs, their slaughter, and the sale of dog meat. 208 deputies voted in favor of this ban; two abstained, and there were no objections.

The law will take full effect in 2027 after a three-year transition period. Violators of all prohibitions face a fine of up to 30 million won ($22,768) or 2-3 years in prison.
