Hunger is "around every corner." People in Gaza are facing the highest level of food need ever recorded. UN Emergency Commissioner Martin Griffiths came to that conclusion.
Citing tens of thousands of casualties, attacks on health facilities, and the lack of functioning hospitals, Griffiths said in a statement on Friday that Gaza had become "a place of death and despair." Griffiths noted that infectious diseases spread in crowded shelters, adding that about 180 Palestinian women give birth every day in this chaos.
