Armenia has joined the Council of the EU's decision on the standard foreign and security policy, which imposes sanctions against officials, individuals, and organizations responsible for massive human rights violations. It is also called the "Magnitsky List."
The Council extended the existing restrictive measures for another twelve months, until December 8, 2024, and amended the list of persons and organizations subject to restrictive measures.
EU candidate countries North Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Ukraine, Moldova, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, as well as European Economic Area members Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway, as well as Armenia and Azerbaijan, joined this decision. They will ensure that their national policies align with this Council's decision. The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it. Georgia's name needs to be added to the published list.
According to the list, the head of the Russian Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, the leaders of the "Wagner" group, the Syrian National Guard, and other persons are subject to sanctions and restrictions.
