The US Secretary of State's spokesman, Matthew Miller, referred to the visit of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan to Baku and his statements regarding the normalization of Armenia-Azerbaijani relations.
"We welcome Turkey's effective role in resolving the conflict," he said, adding, "We agree with the Turkish Foreign Minister that peace is possible, and we will support direct negotiations between the two sides to achieve it."
It is noteworthy that Fidan said, "We are closer than ever to peace in the region. If Azerbaijan and Armenia regulate their relations, Turkey will also regulate its relations with Yerevan."
