US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken arrived in Israel last night and is currently meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the prime minister's office in Jerusalem. He is also set to attend a meeting of Israel's War Cabinet.
Earlier, the Secretary of State met with President Ishaq Herzog in Tel Aviv immediately after the street terror attack in Jerusalem today.
"From day one, we have been focused on the release of the Hamas hostages from Gaza," said Blinken. "We've seen hostages come home and be reunited with their families over the last week, and that needs to continue. It has also enabled increased humanitarian aid to innocent Gazans in need. So, this process pays off. It is important, and we hope it can continue," he added.
