The US sees a real opportunity to achieve peace for Azerbaijan and Armenia
James O'Brien, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, announced that the USA sees a real opportunity to achieve peace for Azerbaijan and Armenia.
"We are encouraged by both sides to negotiate with each other directly and through mediators. And thanks to that, we see a real opportunity to benefit the entire region. For example, if trade from Central Asia could flow through Azerbaijan and Armenia to Turkey, it would significantly boost all countries along this trade route. And we will be happy to be a part of it.
At the same time, if the decision is made not to achieve this peacefully, we will have to use all possible tools to avoid creating this trade route. So, we've clarified to the parties what we hope to see with the implications. We look forward to what the parties decide.
We know that the parties have expressed an interest in reaching a peace agreement as soon as possible, and we would very much like to see that," said James O'Brien.
