In an interview with Haber Global, Turkish Minister of Transport Abdılkadir Uraloğlu spoke about the opening of transport communications.
According to Uraloglu, parallel to the existing Baku-Tbilisi-Kars line, there is another route, the "Zangezur Corridor", through which a direct connection with Azerbaijan will be established. "There is a section of the line on the Azerbaijani side, and the construction of a section (until the border with Armenia) continues. a Turkish company works there. We are again talking about the 43 km long corridor passing through Armenia, which we call the "Zangezur Corridor". There are certain routes and railway lines on the side of Armenia and Nakhichevan that need to be improved and restored. A few days ago, during the forum held in Georgia, we saw that the RA Prime Minister has a certain approach regarding the passage of this corridor through their country. Our deputy minister also participated in the forum. I always said that no matter which country this corridor passes through, it will come out victorious. Leaving aside the political approaches, if we follow the commercial and mutually beneficial policy, we expected that Armenia will come to the conclusion, and if there are no changes, we will move forward in that direction."
The presenter asked if tripartite Azerbaijan-Turkey-Armenia cooperation is possible, and Uraloglu answered: "Yes."
The Turkish minister also added that we are talking about the 220-224 km line on the Turkish side. "In other words, in case of good conditions, I think we will open in 4-5 years. It's not a very long time for such a case, to be honest."
