The President of Israel and the US Secretary of State talked

U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said that U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel's right to defend itself against terrorism in a telephone conversation with Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Tuesday.

Blinken emphasized that Israel's actions must comply with international humanitarian law and include all possible precautions to avoid harming the civilian population. In addition, Blinken and Herzog discussed efforts to protect American citizens in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza and to free those held hostage by Hamas.
