The Israel Defense Forces have announced that they have entered Hamas tunnels dug under the Gaza Strip and have begun to "clean" them. At the end of last week, the British Telegraph reported that while working in the tunnels, Israel intends to use so-called "sponge bombs," created based on old construction technology, to apply thermal insulation from polyurethane foam.
When this bomb is "detonated," two chemical components are mixed, resulting in foaming and polymerization. The released foam quickly spreads and hardens, blocking the tunnels and making it difficult for Hamas terrorists to ambush them. Previously, Israel conducted exercises with these bombs at the Tzalim base.
