"Financing support to Ukraine and Israel should be carried out separately." Speaker of the US House of Representatives

The financing of support to Ukraine and Israel should be carried out separately, not within the framework of a joint package. Said Mike Johnson, the new speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, in an interview with the American Fox News channel on October 27.

According to him, the Republicans in the House of Representatives have agreed on dividing the aid between the two countries involved in military conflicts. This suggests that the lower house of the US Congress, the majority of which are Republicans, will not support the $106 billion aid package for several countries that US President Joe Biden proposed.

This package also includes military aid to Ukraine in the war against Russia and to Israel in the war against the terrorist group "Hamas." In addition, the package aims to support the Palestinian people and address priority issues in the field of US national security.

However, most of the total funds were supposed to be allocated to Kyiv (61.4 billion dollars), compared to 14.3 billion dollars intended to strengthen Israel's defense. Biden believed that including the funds in a single aid package would help both houses of Congress pass it more quickly. Reuters notes.
