Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has stated that Ankara considers the radical Palestinian movement "Hamas" not a terrorist organization but a "liberation group."
"During the last meeting, they got together and said that the whole West considers Hamas a terrorist organization. Israel, you can be that organization because the West owes you a lot of money, but Turkey owes you nothing. "Hamas" is not a terrorist organization; it is a liberation organization and a group of Mujahideen, which is fighting to protect its land," he said during his speech in the parliament.
