Road repair vehicles were sent from Egypt through the Rafah border crossing to the Gaza Strip to prepare to deliver some of the aid stockpiled in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula.
Rafah is the only checkpoint not controlled by Israel but has been decommissioned since Israeli bombings.
The United States and Egypt have been pressing Israel for a deal to provide aid to the Gaza Strip, and the White House said Wednesday that an agreement had been reached for up to 20 trucks, with hopes that the number would increase.
