Japan's Defense Ministry plans to begin practical tests of uncrewed ground combat vehicles in the second half of the 2020s, designed to protect remote islands in the East China Sea that stretch almost as far as Taiwan.
Development of the devices will begin in the fiscal year 2023. "Nikkei" newspaper reported about it.
