The Israeli army ordered about 1.1 million Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to move to the south of the enclave. Stephane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, said that the UN considers it impossible for the displacement to proceed without devastating humanitarian consequences.
He noted that the UN called for canceling that order to prevent a possible tragedy. Dujarric explained that the order of the Israeli military also applies to all UN employees and those who have taken refuge in the organization's facilities: schools, medical centers, and clinics.
