10 billion dollars blocked in Iraq became available to Iran

Iran had access to its assets of 10 billion dollars, previously blocked in Iraq. This is reported by the Iranian ISNA agency, referring to the Central Bank of Iran. Those funds were unfrozen, along with $6 billion recently released in South Korea, and transferred to an account in Qatar.

On June 10, the Iraqi government asked the United States to help resolve the issue of financial obligations to Iran for gas and electricity exports. Iraq heavily depends on Iran for electricity and gas for its power plants. Meanwhile, over the past few years, Washington has prevented Baghdad from paying what it owes Tehran. At the end of April, it amounted to about 10 billion dollars.
