"Azerbaijan does not intend to start a new war against Armenia." Amirbekov

Azerbaijan does not intend to start a new war against Armenia. Elchin Amirbekov, the representative of the President of Azerbaijan in charge of special assignments, said this in an interview with the French radio station Radiofrance.

According to him, Azerbaijan wants to resume negotiations with Armenia to achieve peace.

"Of course, if Armenia attacks us, we will not sit idly by. But I do not believe that it is in the interests of Armenia. We must return to the path of negotiations and take advantage of the EU's desire to advance the peace process. We need to talk about the demarcation of borders and lines of communication. If Armenia joins our efforts to establish peace and stability, we are fully ready to contribute. Charles Michel has done an excellent job as President of the European Council, facilitating the resumption of negotiations. We are again prepared for negotiations with the European Union in a trilateral format.

We will end this hostility, which has been going on for about thirty years. Armenia's statements that Azerbaijan is preparing for a new war are groundless. We respect the territorial integrity of Armenia, like other countries," added Amirbekov.
