Hollywood screenwriters sign a new contract with studios

On October 9, the Writers Guild of America reported that nearly 99% of members approved signing a new contract with the Motion Picture and Television Producers Alliance, representing studios and streaming services.

The new contract will run until May 1, 2026, and includes significant concessions to screenwriters. In particular, their salaries, medical care, and pension payments will be increased. Studios can use artificial intelligence to write scripts but must notify writers if their work has been used in production. Screenwriters, in turn, can use artificial intelligence, but studios do not have the right to oblige them to use it.
