Baku expects safety guarantees for every passenger from Yerevan

Baku claims that Yerevan should provide reliable guarantees for traffic safety through the "corridor". This was announced by Elchin Amirbekov, representative of the President of Azerbaijan in charge of special assignments.

"We accept that this is the sovereign territory of Armenia. How they will secure it is another question," Amirbekov said during a discussion organized by Michael Doran and Luke Coffey, senior researchers at the Washington-based Hudson Institute.

"We will insist that Armenia provide us with reliable guarantees for the safety of every passenger on the train going from the main part of Azerbaijan to Nakhichevan," added the representative of the President of Azerbaijan. He noted that if Armenia decides to postpone the process, in this case there is a "B" plan: the route will pass through Iran.
