Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and head of the Foreign Policy Department of the President's Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, told CBC News in an interview that Baku intends to allow an international group of UN experts to visit Nagorno-Karabakh within a few days. He added that foreign media may also have the opportunity to visit the region.
According to Hajiyev, Azerbaijan does not aim to force Karabakh Armenians to leave this region; conversely, it guarantees their safety if they decide to stay.
He noted that Baku has a comprehensive plan to ensure safety and better living conditions for the Armenians of Karabakh. However, "those who are afraid can leave," "We would like them to stay," Hajiyev stressed.
