The President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, referred to the activities of the Minsk Group, the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, and the role of the OSCE in the post-war years of negotiations.
Aliyev noted, "If you look at the countries that sponsored these negotiations, you can easily see that a solution would have been found if they wanted it because the former Minsk Group co-chairs, who had a mandate to end the occupation, were three permanent members of the UN Security Council, three nuclear powers. The Minsk Group was a branch of the OSCE. But, at the same time, we had a legal basis. We had UN Security Council resolutions, four demanding the immediate, unrestricted, and complete withdrawal of Armenian troops from the occupied territories. These resolutions were adopted in 1993," Aliyev noted.
