The president of Brazil does not guarantee that Putin will not be arrested if he visits the country

Brazilian President Lula da Silva has abandoned his assurances that Vladimir Putin will not be arrested by the International Criminal Court (ICC) if he attends the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

Although Brazil accepts the jurisdiction of the ICC, President da Silva told the Indian news outlet Firstpost over the weekend that since he is the president of Brazil, Putin will never be arrested in his country.

However, on Monday, his position changed. "I don't know if the Brazilian justice system will hold him. The judicial system decides, not the government," said the president of Brazil.
