Ararat Mirzoyan's telephone conversation with the US Acting Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs
On September 8, RA Minister of Foreign Affairs Ararat Mirzoyan had a telephone conversation with Yuri Kim, acting US Deputy Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs.
Issues of regional security and the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh were discussed.
Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan reaffirmed the need to remove the illegal blocking of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan in accordance with the statement of November 9, 2020 and two decisions of the International Court of Justice. The importance of ensuring uninterrupted access and humanitarian activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross to Nagorno-Karabakh was emphasized.
Minister Mirzoyan made a detailed reference to the destructive behavior carried out by Azerbaijan during this period, the disrespect of the obligations assumed by it and the clear calls of the international community, and the systemic policy of ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh. The need to introduce an effective international mechanism for discussions on rights and security guarantees between Stepanakert and Baku was emphasized.
Reference was made to the agenda of bilateral cooperation.
