The impeachment of the President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, initiated by the ruling "Georgian Dream" party, is aimed at limiting the activities of the head of state and suppressing her politically. The Georgian President's Parliamentary Secretary, Giorgi Mskhiladze, told journalists about this.
On September 1, the ruling party announced the start of the impeachment process against the president. The reason was his visit to Europe, which the government banned, the purpose of which was to meet with EU leaders.
According to the authorities, Zurabishvili violated the constitution, in which the president can perform representative functions in foreign policy only with the government's consent.
