In October, the European Commission (EC) will present to the countries of the European Union (EU) the report on the results of the work with all the candidates of the union. It will propose a program for the expansion of the community. European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Oliver Vargeli stated this in an interview with the Euractiv portal.
Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, North Macedonia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Montenegro currently have official EU candidate status. Brussels is putting pressure on Serbia to make it agree to grant Kosovo a similar situation, which is, in fact, equivalent to official recognition of the state's independence. Georgia also hopes to become a candidate for membership, but it has yet to be determined when that will happen.
