Abkhazia favors close and allied relations with Russia, but at the same time, there are no forces in the republic that would declare their desire to join Russia. The Secretary of the Security Council of Abkhazia, Sergey Shamba, commented on the statements of the Deputy Head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev.
Earlier, in an article published on the aif.ru website, Medvedev noted that joining Russia is still prevalent in Abkhazia and South Ossetia, "and it can be implemented if there is a good reason for it."
