Lebanon blacked out due to debt

Sky News Arabia and Veto reported that electricity was cut off in Lebanon for ten hours. Two JECs stopped energy supply due to non-payment of debt in foreign currency.

Electricity was cut off in the cities of Deir Ammar in the north of the country and Al Zahran in the south. The power plant operator had warned about power cuts due to non-payment of debts in foreign currency. The debt is 83 million dollars, of which the Lebanese state company "Electricity du Liban" paid only 2 million dollars to the "Primesouth" JEC operator.
