The masterminds of the 9/11 attacks can avoid the death penalty

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, suspected of masterminding the September 11, 2001 attacks, and four of his accomplices could avoid the death penalty if a plea deal is reached. This is reported by the Associated Press (AP) agency, referring to the letters addressed to the relatives of those who died during the tragedy.

According to the agency, the US Attorney General's Office is discussing pre-trial cooperation agreements with the accused. If it is possible to reach agreements, then the possibility of the death penalty will be excluded.
