Niger rebels have accused the president of treason

The military council created by Niger rebels intends to charge treason against the deposed president of Niger, Mohamed Bazum. Al Jazeera TV channel reports this.

Cote d'Ivoire President Alassane Ouattara said on August 10, on his return from the Economic Community of West Africa (ECOWAS) summit in Abuja, that leaders of the association's member states had agreed to launch military operations in Niger "as soon as possible." The rebel leaders, in turn, ordered the army to be ready given the possible actions of ECOWAS.
