In Maui, one of the largest islands of the Hawaiian archipelago, at least six people died in forest fires.
The fires are fueled by intense heat and drought, and the rapid spread of the flames is aided by strong winds from Hurricane Dora, which is raging over the Pacific Ocean hundreds of kilometers south of the islands.
Hot weather caused by global climate change, combined with other factors, has been confirmed this summer in many American states, as well as in Europe and Asia.
