The "Islamic State" jihadist group, recognized as a terrorist group in several countries, announced the death of its leader Abu Al-Hussein Al-Husseini Al-Qurayshi. He led IS since November 2022.
A recording was published on the Telegram channel saying that Abu Hafs Al-Hashimi Al-Qurayshi has been appointed as the group's new leader.
It is not known when the recording was made. In it, an IS representative claims that Quraishi was killed during clashes with representatives of another group in northwestern Syria.
