Russia is trying to expand cooperation with North Korea and wants to acquire missiles for use in the war against Ukraine. This was announced by John Kirby, coordinator of the National Security Council of the White House.
"The information we received shows that Russia seeks to expand military cooperation with Hs. with Korea, particularly through the sale of artillery shells to Russia," he noted.
The recent visit of Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu to the DPRK in Washington is associated with the attempt to convince North Korea to sell ammunition to Russia.
Kirby emphasized that the agreements between Moscow and Pyongyang on arms supply violate several resolutions of the UN Security Council at once.
The US official emphasized that Washington will continue to make efforts to prevent any attempt by the Kremlin to acquire weapons for the war against Ukraine in third countries.
According to him, Russia's attempts to expand cooperation with North Korea testify to Putin's desperation.
He believes that Moscow is forced to look for weapons in such countries, and this indicates the influence of Western sanctions on the Russian military machine.
