The President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, has announced that he intends to leave the "Wagner" fighters in the country for contract service in the Belarusian army.
"It was my initiative (about deploying "Wagner" fighters in Belarus, ed.), and I don't regret it. I want to leave those guys in the armed forces of our country. And, based on them, create a contract army more actively," he said.
Lukashenko noted that some "Wagner" units have joined the Russian regular army and are also working in Africa; some will remain in Belarus.
