The European Union issued a statement supporting the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in the South Caucasus. In particular, it is said in the statement.
"The EU strongly supports the activities of the ICRC as the only major humanitarian organization operating in the South Caucasus. It provides critical humanitarian assistance and protection to those in need by the humanitarian principles of neutrality, independence, and impartiality.
Their work along the Lachine Corridor has been exclusively focused on providing necessities and humanitarian assistance to the Armenian population of Karabakh. The Azerbaijani authorities are responsible for ensuring that the ICRC continues its activities and prevents a possible humanitarian crisis.
The EU strongly supports the crucial role of the ICRC in the region and reiterates its call on Azerbaijan to ensure the unrestricted movement of people and goods through the Lachine Corridor."
