The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) report stated that foreign direct investment in Latin America and the Caribbean increased by 55.2% in 2022 to a record $224.58 billion.
Brazil received the most investments in 2022 (41%). It is followed by Mexico (17%), Chile (9%), Colombia (8%), Argentina (7%), and Peru (5%). Most of the investments in Latin America were made in the USA (38%). The European Union (excluding the Netherlands and Luxembourg) accounts for 17%, and China for 3%.
