President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky wrote on his Twitter page:
"We value our allies, our common security, open conversation. Ukraine will be represented at the NATO summit in Vilnius because it is about respect. But Ukraine also deserves respect. Now, on the way to Vilnius, we received signals that some formulations are being discussed without Ukraine's participation, which refers to the invitation to become a member of NATO. It is unprecedented and absurd when no timetable is set for the invitation or Ukraine's membership. At the same time, vague wording is added about the "conditions" for inviting Ukraine. According to everything, there is no readiness to invite Ukraine to NATO or make it a member of the alliance.
It means there is a window of opportunity to negotiate Ukraine's membership in NATO with Russia. And for Russia, it means the motivation to continue its terror. Uncertainty is a weakness. And I will discuss it openly at the summit."
