"The North Atlantic Treaty Organization supports Turkey's aspiration to become a member of the European Union, but this should not prevent Sweden from joining NATO, as the country has fulfilled all its obligations," NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said at the press conference held before the alliance summit in Vilnius.
He commented on the statement of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who, before flying to Vilnius, linked the prospect of Sweden's NATO membership approval with the removal of obstacles for Turkey on the way to the European Union.
