NATO may open an office in Tokyo

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) intends to delay the decision to open an office in Tokyo until the fall or later. Nikkei Asia newspaper reported this on Monday, citing sources.

In this situation, Paris prefers not to provoke Beijing because it relies on the development of economic relations and the fact that China will eventually play its role in the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. At the same time, France and other NATO members are focusing on the Asia-Pacific region and supporting the development of cooperation with Japan and South Korea.
