"The UN Security Council should be expanded;" British Foreign Minister

"The South deserves to have its voice at the main table of the world. The UN Security Council must be expanded," said British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley.

Cleverley called for a review of the UN Security Council's veto use by its five permanent members, adding that the world's poorest countries feel their voices need to be heard even on issues of immediate concern to them.

According to the minister, the leaders of the South feel that the rich countries are "strengthening the power and neglecting their responsibilities."
