Europe's biggest companies oppose EU rules on AI regulation

On Friday, the Financial Times daily newspaper reported that dozens of major European companies, including Germany's Siemens and France's Airbus, have spoken out against a series of European Commission (EC) rules to regulate artificial intelligence (AI).

Companies are particularly concerned about AI regulation. The letter notes that companies developing and deploying these systems face disproportionately high compliance costs. This could be followed by the exit of companies from the EU, the withdrawal of investors due to the development of artificial intelligence in Europe, and the creation of a "critical productivity gap" compared to the US.
