"Direct dialogue is the key to achieving lasting and dignified peace;" Miller

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller referred to the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations.

“The United States is pleased to host Armenian Foreign Minister Mirzoyan and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Bayramov to facilitate negotiations as they continue to pursue a peaceful future for the South Caucasus region.

The Secretary met with both separately and emphasized in each meeting that direct dialogue is the key to resolving the issues and achieving a lasting and dignified peace.

The United States is encouraged by recent efforts by Armenia and Azerbaijan to engage effectively in the peace process, and we will continue to assist them in any way we can to build on that momentum. Today was the first day of meetings, which will continue through Thursday, and we will have further updates throughout the week," Miller noted.
